Parking with a free bus ride

Just outside the city of Leuven, you will find some parking spots where you can park for an advantageous price.

Note: Don’t lose your parking ticket ! This will cost you between 25€ and 30€.

Best parking during the week

Having a business meeting in Leuven?

If you are looking to park in Leuven during the week, you should consider parking in Parking Vaartkom — Engels Plein 32, 3000 Leuven.

The first parking hour is free. After that, it will cost you 2€ per hour. For that price, you get a free ticket to take the bus to the city center.

This is the most advantageous parking if you plan on staying a whole day. Leaving your car there for a day will cost you 6€ in total.

Best parking during the week-end

Are you visiting family or friends or just going to shop in Leuven ?

Here are some clever parking suggestions to leave your car for the whole week end.

  • Parking Wetenschapspark Arenberg — Gaston Geenslaan 14, 3000 Leuven

Parking Wetenschapspark Arenberg, is perfect to park on a Saturday (from 10am to 7pm). This is the only day the parking is available to the public.

This parking is free. Big plus: with your parking ticket, you can take the bus for free to reach Leuven’s center.

Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 26 min from the parking.

  • Parking Teken — Mgr. Van Waeyenberghlaan, 3000 Leuven

Parking Teken is perfect for parking anytime between Friday 6pm and Sunday 7pm.

Parking there will only cost you 3€. The price of the tickets includes the bus ride to get to the center of the city.

Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 7 min from the parking.

  • Parking Philipssite Philipssite 2, 3001 Leuven

If parking Wetenschapspark Arenberg and parking Teken are full on a Saturday or if you are looking to park your car on a Sunday, this parking is for you.

Parking your car there for 12 hours, will cost you 5€. Per hour, it costs 1€.

Moreover, your parking ticket allows you to take the bus to the center of the city.

Best parking at night

Are you planning on eating in the center of the city or just going for a drink with your friends ?

If you are planning on parking in the center of the city at night, here are the best options for you.

  • Parking De Bond — Martelarenplein, 3000 Leuven

You can park at Parking De Bond, for a maximum price of 3€. You can park there anytime from 6.30pm to 6.30am.

The bus ride to the center of Leuven is included in the price of the ticket.

Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 6 min from the parking.

  • Parking Philipssite Philipssite 2, 3001 Leuven

You can also park in this parking at night for a maximum of 5€. (+ bus ride to the center)

Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 20 min from the parking.

  • Parking Vaartkom — Engels Plein 32, 3000 Leuven.

Parking there at night (from 7pm to 7am) is also very advantageous. The maximum price you will pay is 3€. (+ bus ride to the center)

Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 12 min from the parking.

Shop-and-go parking spots

Need to purchase something quickly in the center of the city? Leuven got you covered !

The city of Leuven has equipped some of its streets with smart parking spots, the so called ‘Shop&Go’ parking spots.

These smart parking spots are equipped with sensors that register you time of arrival. No parking disc is needed when parking there.

You are allowed to park for free for a maximum of 45 minutes from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 6pm.

This gives you just enough time to make your purchase.

Be careful to get back on time ! A parking agent will get an alert if you don’t respect the 45 minutes limit. If so, you will have to pay 27,5€.

Free parking in the streets of Leuven

If you plan on leaving your car for free and with no time restriction near Leuven’s train station, you can park in Leuven Kanaalzone/Spoordijk.

Getting from there to any other point of the city is very easy as many busses leave from the station.

Getting to the Grote Markt by foot takes approximately 22 min.

Nearby Sportoase or Graveyard

If you need to park nearby the Sportoase or Leuven’s graveyard, here are our tips:

As you can see on the map, you will find two streets where parking is free and with no time limit , around the Sportoase. (the green streets)

Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 25 min. By foot it takes 23 minutes.

Nearby Park van de Abdij van Keizersberg

Another great tip to know when it comes to parking is the Vaartkom, near the Park van de Abdij van Keizersberg.

As you can see on the map, you will find various streets where you can park with no time restriction and without any costs.

Getting to the center (Grote Markt) from there will take you 12 min if you take the bus and 17min if you choose to walk.

Nearby Sint-Jacobsplein

We have found two little streets nearby the Sint-Jacobsplein where parking is free and with no time limit.

These are a small part of Beursgang and a part of Zongang, as represented on the map.

By taking the bus it takes 6 min to get to Grote Markt and 10 if you choose to walk until there.

Free parking for two hours in Leuven

If you plan on parking in Leuven for a couple of hours, you can park in the blue zones of Leuven.

In these streets you are allowed to park from Monday to Saturday from 9am until 6pm, for a maximum of 2 hours. Note that you are required to put on your parking disc.

Pro tip: if you arrive at 9h31 you are allowed to set your parking disc as of 10h !

Nearby Bondgenotenlaan

If you plan on going shopping for a couple of hours, you can park in Blijde Inkomstraat.

Note however that this is allowed in a small section of the street as portrayed on the map, in the section delimited by Herbert Hooverplein and Ravenstraat.

Plus, Blijde Inkomstraat is only 5 min away from Bondgenotenlaan.

Nearby the Station

If you need to park shortly nearby the station of Leuven, you can park at Provincie-Esplanade.

Getting from there to any point of Leuven is very easy, as the bus station is right next to the Station.

You can also choose to walk if you just need to be in the center of the city.

Some of Leuven’s neighborhoods have an extended blue zone area.

These neighborhoods are the Ridderbuurt and Nieuw Kwartier as you can see on the map.

Getting to the center of the city from there isn’t very far away.

Walking from the Ridderstraat, in the neighborhood of the Ridderbuurt, to the Grote Markt is approximately 12 min away. The same holds from the Hendrik Consciencestraat in the Nieuwe Kwartier.
