If you are looking to park in Leuven during the week, you should consider parking in Parking Vaartkom — Engels Plein 32, 3000 Leuven.


The first parking hour is free. After that, it will cost you 2€ per hour. For that price, you get a free ticket to take the bus to the city center.


This is the most advantageous parking if you plan on staying a whole day. Leaving your car there for a day will cost you 6€ in total.

Here are some clever parking suggestions to leave your car for the whole week-end.


  • Parking Wetenschapspark Arenberg — Gaston Geenslaan 14, 3000 Leuven

Parking Wetenschapspark Arenberg is perfect to park on a Saturday (from 10am to 7pm). This is the only day the parking is available to the public.


This parking is free.

Big plus: with your parking ticket, you can take the bus for free to reach Leuven's center.


Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 26 minutes from the parking.

  • Parking Teken — Mgr. Van Waeyenberghlaan, 3000 Leuven

Parking Teken is perfect for parking anytime between Friday 6pm and Sunday 7pm.


Parking there will only cost you 3€. The price of the tickets includes the bus ride to get to the center of the city.


Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 7 minutes from the parking.

  • Parking Philipssite Philipssite 2, 3001 Leuven

If parking Wetenschapspark Arenberg and parking Teken are full on a Saturday or if you are looking to park your car on a Sunday, this parking is for you.


Parking your car there for 12 hours, will cost you 5€. Per hour, it costs 1€.


Moreover, your parking ticket allows you to take the bus to the center of the city.

Best parking at night

Are you planning on eating in the center of the city or just going for a drink with your friends?


If you are planning on parking in the center of the city at night, here are the best options for you.


  • Parking De Bond — Martelarenplein, 3000 Leuven

You can park at Parking De Bond, for a maximum price of 3€. You can park there anytime from 6.30pm to 6.30am.


The bus ride to the center of Leuven is included in the price of the ticket.


Getting to the Grote Markt by bus takes approximately 6 minutes from the parking.

You can also park in this parking at night for a maximum of 5€. (+ bus ride to the center)

Parking there at night (from 7pm to 7am) is also very advantageous. The maximum price you will pay is 3€. (+ bus ride to the center)

Shop-and-go parking spots

Shop and go

Need to purchase something quickly in the center of the city? Leuven got you covered! The city of Leuven has equipped some of its streets with smart parking spots, the so called 'Shop&Go' parking spots.


These smart parking spots are equipped with sensors that register your time of arrival. No parking disc is needed when parking there.


You are allowed to park for free for a maximum of 45 minutes from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 6pm.


This gives you just enough time to make your purchase.


Be careful to get back on time! A parking agent will get an alert if you don't respect the 45 minutes limit. If so, you will have to pay 27.5€.

Free parking for two hours in the streets of Leuven

If you plan on parking in Leuven for a couple of hours, you can park in the blue zones of Leuven.


In these streets you are allowed to park from Monday to Saturday from 9am till 6pm, for a maximum of 2 hours. Note that you are required to put on your parking disc.


Pro tip: if you arrive at 9.31am you are allowed to set your parking disc as of 10am!

Plus, Brouwerijplein is only 14 minutes away from Bondgenotenlaan, whilst Strijdersstraat is 8 minutes away.

Getting from there to any point of Leuven is very easy, as the bus station is right next to the Station.

Getting to the center of the city from there isn't very far away.


Walking from the Ridderstraat, in the neighborhood of the Ridderbuurt, to the Grote Markt is approximately 12 minutes away. The same holds from the Hendrik Consciencestraat in the Nieuwe Kwartier.

Nearby Sint-Jacobsplein

One of them is Albert Woutersstraat.


To reach the center (Grote Markt), you could take bus number 5 for instance from bus stop Wilsele Kapellelaan. It takes approximately 11 minutes. If you choose to walk, count about 25 minutes.

Heverlee

In Heverlee you will also find several streets that are situated in a green zone, meaning parking is free and with no time restriction.


For instance, you could park in Hertogstraat.


You can take the bus number 2 to go to the center of the city, at Grote Markt for instance, from Heverlee Station stop, which takes approximately 10 minutes to get there. If you choose to walk there, it takes about 30 minutes.

Terbank

The neighborhood of Terbank also counts many streets where you can park for free and with no time restriction. One of them is Sint-Jansbergsesteenweg.


To reach Grote Markt, you could take bus number 8 for instance from bus stop Heverlee Berg Tabor. It takes approximately 16 minutes. Walking there will take you about 30 minutes.
